Music from the Jugalbandhi tour

I finally found time to upload some music clips from this summer's Jugalbandhi tour.

From 2008-jugalbandhi-tour

The following tracks are from the concert that Snehashish Mozumder (Mandolin), Subrata Bhattacharya (Tabla), Rohan Krishnamurthy (Mridangam) and I performed in Dallas TX on August 24th, 2008.

And the tracks can also be downloaded from the following links:

The other artists and I had a wonderful time at the Dallas concert. It was only the second time that the four of us had played together, but the audience and atmosphere made that evening truly special. Our special thanks go to Suresh Dalapathy and the rest of the SN-OM folks in Dallas who took such care in organizing the program.

Jugalbandhi Concert Tour for Sankara Nethralaya

As some of you may know, last year my father and I performed a series of benefit concerts for Sankara Nethralaya in various cities in the US, to raise awareness and funds for the wonderful work that SN has been doing. The concerts were a wonderful way for rasikas of Carnatic Music to support a noble cause and at the same time enjoy their favorite music. My father and I were really moved by the affection and support we received from our rasikas at all of those programs.

This year, Sankara Nethralaya have invited me to perform a series of Carnatic/Hindustani Jugalbandhi concerts with Snehashish Mozumder who plays Hindustani Mandolin. We will be accompanied by V. Rajasekar on Mridangam and Subrata Bhattacharya on Tabla. We are scheduled to perform in ten cities across the US in August and September. The dates and venues are listed below:

  • August 23, 2008 Houston, TX
Durga Bari Temple Auditorium, 13944 Schiller Road, Houston, TX 77082
  • August 24, 2008 Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
The Allen Public Library Civic Auditorium, 300, N. Allen Drive, Allen, Texas 75013
  • August 30, 2008 Atlanta, GA
  • August 31, 2008 St. Louis, MO
  • September 13, 2008 Boston, MA
  • September 14, 2008 Bridgewater, NJ
  • September 20, 2008 Washington DC
  • September 21, 2008 Baltimore, MD

LA live concert mp3 tracks

The energy and atmosphere of a live concert is hard to capture in recordings. The rapport between the musicians, the acoustics of the concert venue, and the response from the audience have a greater impact than just the sum of the parts. However, it's still fun to share these recordings and reach out to the many rasikas out there.

I've added some mp3 music tracks from a solo violin performance I gave in Los Angeles last year. You can listen to them online at sriramkrishnan.net, or if you prefer you can download them to your iPod or other mp3 device, using the following links:

This performance was organized by the venerable South Indian Music Academy in Los Angeles. Nirmal Narayan, a talented young mridangam vidwan from LA, accompanied me for this program. I hope you enjoy the tracks.
